This summer, Moncton's colourful Main Street has been transformed into a one-way street with a two-way bicycle lane to allow restaurants to extend their patio areas. Enjoy diverse restaurant offerings featuring local and international cuisine; visit unique boutiques and shops; and, walk, bike or drive your way through downtown streets to explore Moncton’s beautiful art murals circuit.
This change is part of the City’s post-pandemic economic recovery efforts and was designed to support downtown restaurants by offering them customized options to expand their sidewalk cafés and terraces. This summer, you will only see cars travelling west between Botsford and Lutz Streets, with other traffic being detoured around Main Street to allow for the patio and bicycle lane extensions.
Thanks to Festival Inspire and this year’s Creator Class program, the boring old grey concrete barriers are now beautifully transformed with the work of local artist Frederick Ruined Sundays and his team of volunteers!
So make sure to take a walk or hop on your bike and make sure to get out and experience Downtown Moncton. Grab a coffee or a meal at one of the many cafes and restaurants in our downtown and enjoy the changes while you support local.
